A Strategic Enhancement

Our terrestrial network of community-operated stations is now and will always be the foundation of Wingbits. 

The satellite we're co-launching with Spire Global is a strategic complement to this network, designed to strengthen and enhance what our community is building.

Think of it as adding a specialized bit to an already powerful drill. The bit is useless without the drill, while the drill can be enhanced using the correct bit in specific situations.

Wingbits’ terrestrial stations provide rich, detailed, cryptographically secure data from around the world, earning $WINGS tokens as a reward for this essential service.

The satellite adds a unique capability that harmonizes with our existing network – it doesn’t earn $WINGS, nor can it stand (or, in this case, float) on its own. It’s a complementary addition to the terrestrial network’s capabilities.

Filling the Coverage Gaps

Flight data from some areas of our planet has historically been difficult or impossible to capture through ground stations alone. 

Vast oceans, mountain ranges, deserts, and other remote areas create natural gaps in coverage. And let’s face it, putting a buoy in the middle of the ocean with a Wingbits station attached just isn’t a feasible model over the long term. 

The satellite helps address this challenge. 

It provides supplementary data from these hard-to-reach regions, creating a more complete global picture of air traffic.

This enhancement makes the entire Wingbits dataset more valuable without competing with or diminishing the crucial role of our ground stations.

Creating Premium Data Products

Think of it from a data buyer's perspective. If the Wingbits network offers remote area coverage and the highest quality flight tracking data from terrestrial stations, choosing to go with Wingbits becomes a no-brainer.
