Tracking flights is all about having a clear view of the sky. What better way to capture every angle than by adding an extra set of eyes from space?
Wingbits has partnered with Spire Global (NYSE: SPIR), a space-based data and analytics leader and operator of the largest multipurpose satellite constellation.
Together, we are launching a satellite into orbit on SpaceX's Transporter-13 mission.
With this partnership, we’re expanding our mission beyond the skies, venturing to places where few DePIN have gone before.
We are continuing to scale and prioritize our core network of earth-based hardware for everyone who relies on flight tracking information - from airlines and air traffic controllers to security agencies and soon drone operators worldwide.
A Match Made in the Stars
On Earth, Wingbits has already been working hard to grow its network of cryptographically-secured ADS-B hardware, hosted by our committed global community.
These stations are the essential backbone of the Wingbits network, tracking flights from the ground, collecting superior, context-rich data, designed to be tamper-proof thanks to the hardware’s cryptographic security and network-wide Proof-of-Location technology. For providing such a valuable service, these data contributors receive daily rewards.
This satellite engineered by Spire will act as a validator of this terrestrial data, further increasing the security and verifiability of our entire network.

After all, it’s hard to tamper with hardware that’s floating 1200 miles above the Earth’s surface.
Our Eyes in the Sky
Flight tracking is particularly challenging in hard-to-reach locations. Imagine the vast stretches of oceans with no coverage potential, or remote regions like the Himalayas, Sahara, or Gobi, where populations are sparse and ground hardware is hard to set up and maintain.
Spire's satellite will act as an extra eye in the sky for these regions. Equipped with advanced ADS-B functionality to capture aircraft signals as it orbits the globe, it can provide some supporting coverage to otherwise inaccessible regions on the map.

With this launch, Wingbits and Spire are building on their existing commercial data partnership. Wingbits currently provides ADS-B data to Spire to complement and enhance the flight-tracking data collected by its satellite constellation and other sources.
“The future of aviation depends on data that is not only expansive but also reliable and secure,” explains our CEO and co-founder, Robin Wingardh.
“By merging Spire’s satellite innovations with our network, we hope to introduce a new standard for flight tracking - a future-proof solution engineered for the rapidly growing aviation industry that combines scale, security and verifiability like never before. This partnership reinforces the role of both terrestrial and space infrastructure in building a flight tracking system that aviation operators can trust for decades to come.”
The sky is no longer the limit - join the future of flight tracking
In just one year, we've achieved several world-first milestones for flight tracking.
Contributors from over 90 countries are tracking 120,000 unique flights daily, and the network is growing 6x faster than any other flight-tracking solution in history.
This rapid growth and success are supported by $9.2M in total funding from leading investors who understand that the future of aviation data is incentivized.
Our satellite launch marks a new chapter in our mission, which we could not do without our community’s ongoing support and faith in our vision.
By combining satellite infrastructure with our decentralized physical infrastructure network, we hope to create an unparalleled system that will help make aviation more safe and efficient for everyone.
As we prepare for this exciting launch, we invite you to be part of our growing community. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast, a DePIN diehard, or simply curious about earning rewards daily, there's never been a better time to get involved.
