Soaring into 2025 with Groundbreaking Achievements

Hey Wingbits Crew,

January proved to once again be a fantastic month for Wingbits, the community, and flight-tracking innovation.

We kicked off 2025 with incredible momentum. From major funding news to hardware improvements, January has taken the network to new heights.

Let's dive into everything that happened 👇

$5.6M Raised to Transform Flight Tracking 🚀

We're proud to announce our latest funding round of $5.6M, led by Borderless Capital and Bullish Capital, with participation from Spartan Group, Tribe Capital, Antler, SNZ, and Heartcore.

This brings our total funding to $9.2M, which stands as a testament to the strength of our vision and your continued support in building the world's most innovative flight-tracking network.

Our investors are providing so much more than just funding. They serve as our trusted advisors as we navigate the future of how flight data is collected, shared, and incentivized.

As Álvaro Gracia, Partner at Borderless Capital, puts it: "Wingbits is a definitive use case for DePIN. They are on track to be the largest airplane tracking network on earth thanks to their well-designed incentives and execution."

The numbers speak for themselves:

  1. Network growth 6x faster than any other flight tracking system in history

  2. 120,000 unique flights tracked daily

  3. Coverage across 85 countries and expanding

  4. 2,100+ active stations contributing real-time data

  5. 2-second latency for 95% of data

  6. 60 million km² of geographic area covered

As we prepare for mainnet launch and expand into new regions, this funding will propel our growth to even greater heights.

2000+ Pre-orders: A Community Milestone!

We also crossed another milestone in January, with over 2,000 pre-orders for the custom HYFIX stations.

This overwhelming response from the community validates our decision to commission specialized hardware that ensures superior data quality and network reliability.

The enthusiasm we're seeing invigorates us to continue building a network that redefines flight tracking by fairly rewarding contributors. Each pre-order represents a future station operator joining the mission to create a more transparent and efficient aviation ecosystem.

HYFIX Quality Enhancement Initiative

During our final testing of the HYFIX units, we identified opportunities to enhance performance that we couldn't ignore.

HYFIX is implementing several significant upgrades that include:

  1. Enhanced noise reduction components for clearer signals

  2. Upgrade to a high-end LNA (Low-Noise Amplifier) for superior reception

  3. Optimizations for noise reduction and updated to better LNA

While these improvements mean a slight delay in shipping (now expected at the end of February, after Chinese New Year), the enhanced performance will be worth the wait.

To ensure no one is disadvantaged, we're extending all reservation periods by a minimum of 60 days from the shipping date.

GeoSigners Rolling Out and Arriving

For our dedicated BYOD (Build Your Own Device) station operators, we're excited to announce that GeoSigners are now shipping and being received worldwide.

These units are essential in securing existing DIY stations, to continue contributing to the network's growth. We are already seeing unboxing videos and pictures rolling in from Wingbits community members.

A collage of geosigners that will be used to ensure build your own devices (BYOD) remain functional within the Wingbits network.

Important reminder: GeoSigners are only required for BYOD stations - the new HYFIX stations come fully equipped and ready to contribute right out of the box.

Community Support & Communication

We understand hardware delays can be frustrating, but we're committed to transparency and open communication.

That's why we hosted a special AMA session with GEODNET in the Wingbits Discord on Thursday, January 16th, where we addressed the community’s questions regarding this delay.

You can listen to the entire AMA here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLl6d7exRFQ

If you haven’t already, join the Wingbits Discord, where you can learn more about the HYFIX improvements, ask questions that can be answered live during our AMA sessions, and get insights into the Wingbits development process.

Looking Towards The Future

January's developments have laid a strong foundation for what's to come.

With fresh funding, growing hardware deployments, and continuous technical improvements, we're better positioned than ever to achieve our goals.

In the coming months, you can expect enhanced network coverage in key regions, continued optimization of data quality, and new features and improvements based on community feedback.

We also have some special prizes in store as we gear up for mainnet launch.

A Heartfelt Thank You

None of this would be possible without you - our dedicated community of contributors, supporters, and aviation enthusiasts.

Whether you're a day-one BYOD operator, a recent pre-order participant, or just joined our community, you play a crucial role in redefining the future of flight tracking.

Stay tuned for a ground-shaking announcement we’re planning in February…, and keep tracking those skies! ✈️
